Pinnacle Opens First of Its Kind office in Nashville Yards that Blends Technology with Human Touch
The Nashville Innovation Center is at the base of Amazon Tower One; firm’s headquarters land at Nashville Yards in 2025
Pinnacle Financial Partners has opened a new office in the Nashville Yards development in downtown Nashville. Dubbed the Nashville Innovation Center, the office sits at the base of Amazon Tower One with an address of 113 Platform Way North near its corner with Church Street. This is Pinnacle’s 36th office in Middle Tennessee and first presence in Nashville Yards while the firm’s new headquarters is constructed across the street.
“This is our first foothold in Nashville Yards, which will be Pinnacle’s permanent headquarters in just a few years,” said Karen Hargis, Pinnacle’s area manager for client services in Middle Tennessee. “And what a way to make an entrance, with an office unlike any we’ve ever operated, right in the heart of the new frontier for Nashville’s business district. Nashville Yards is revitalizing the downtown core, and the Innovation Center gives us a head start meeting the demand of those who will live, work and play there with a new approach that seamlessly brings together technology and personal service.”
The Innovation Center is so named because of its focus on blending new technology with the level of distinctive service people expect from Pinnacle. The office will serve as a testing ground for ways the firm can balance greater convenience through tech with the human touch that sets Pinnacle apart from larger, more bureaucratic banks.
To fulfill this mission, two full-time associates are available to serve clients during business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and to 5 p.m. on Friday, including office leader Kelly Baucom and a financial specialist Keleigh Carnes. They can answer questions, open accounts, take loan applications and meet with those who need or prefer working face to face with a banker.
The office is also equipped with two Interactive Teller Machines, or ITMs, which can handle a wide array of needs with or without support from a Pinnacle associate. The ITMs have a direct connection to all of Pinnacle’s banking systems, providing real-time access to all account information and supporting most transactions. They also have large, high-visibility touch screens that provide instant video access to a live Pinnacle associate based in Middle Tennessee during business hours.
“We believe everyone deserves a great place to work and a great place to do business, and this is one more way we’re living up to that belief,” Baucom said. “The Innovation Center represents an incredible opportunity to show that technology doesn’t have to replace human service, it can make it more accessible and fill the gaps for those who have different needs and preferences. We’re not interested in empty offices with banks of video screens that connect clients to someone hundreds of miles away. We know there’s a better way to balance tech and personal service. They can complement each other to give a wider variety of options that meet everyone’s needs.”
With or without human help, the ITMs can process more complex transactions than a traditional ATM, like cashing checks, taking cash and check deposits, withdrawing larger amounts of cash and dispensing bills of almost any denomination. The ITMs will handle all cash transactions at the Innovation Center and are available 24 hours a day in a secure vestibule at the entrance and in the main lobby of Amazon Tower One, with more limited capabilities afterhours and on weekends.
Baucom continued, “This is just the beginning. We’re also testing new software for account opening and will soon work with a brand new system for small business lending that will add to the extraordinary convenience we already offer. The ITMs we have today will also evolve, with even more capabilities possible in the future. The goal is to prove their use case here and find the best ways to integrate them into other offices so we can expand these new technologies across our footprint. It all starts right here in our homebase of Nashville Yards.”
The Innovation Center is much smaller than a typical Pinnacle office at 1,100 square feet and includes features befitting its technology focus. Rather than a water wall, which is a standard feature of most Pinnacle offices, the Innovation Center boasts an unmissable video wall measuring 28 feet by eight feet, positioned behind an extended service counter. It also holds three small meeting spaces designed for collaboration, including a semi-private, restaurant-style booth and a Zoom-ready video conference space that will host financial education and other events aimed at Amazon employees and others from neighboring businesses and apartments.
Garage parking is available free of charge to Pinnacle clients, with the entrance just steps away from the Innovation Center’s front door. The office is also accessible from the main lobby of Amazon Tower One.
The architect was Hasting Architecture, and the contractor was R.C. Matthews.
