Pinnacle is One of the Nation's Best Workplaces for Millennials
Pinnacle Financial Partners is one of the best places to work in the nation for millennials, the generation born between 1981 and 1994. The firm earned the No. 26 spot on the latest list of Best Workplaces for Millennials from FORTUNE magazine and Great Place to Work®. This is Pinnacle’s sixth consecutive appearance. In April of this year, it was named No. 24 on the overall list of Best Companies to Work For in the United States.
“Millennials have aged into being one the core classes of workers in America, and the workplaces they want and the world they want to build are perfectly aligned with Pinnacle’s vision, mission, values and unique approach to banking,” said Terry Turner, Pinnacle’s president and CEO. “We’ve earned this honor several times now, along with being the No. 2 best place to work for women and previously being named as a best workplace for parents and to retire from. The fact that we’re making so many demographically oriented lists tells me we’re going exactly what we intend, which is to be the best place to work for all associates regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, background or any other factor.”
Among Pinnacle associates, 28 percent count themselves among the millennial generation, a number that rises every year. At a time when employee engagement nationwide is at its lowest in 10 years, with “workers feeling more isolated than ever and managers struggling to keep them connected,” millennials, in particular, are showing sharp increases in active disengagement. Gallup research shows they are experiencing larger declines than older workers in:
- feeling cared about
- having someone who encourages their development
- opportunities to learn and grow
- their opinions counting
- having a best friend at work
By comparison, Pinnacle’s 2022 associate survey, conducted anonymously with questions based on Gallup’s workplace research, show the opposite trends taking place.
- 95.7 percent of all associates agree that leaders show a genuine interest in the well-being of associates
- 94.1 percent of all associates agree their manager makes his or her expectations clear
- 90.8 percent of all associates agree they are given a real opportunity to develop their skills at the firm
- 90.2 percent of all associates agree that when they offer a new idea, it will be fully considered
- 97.3 percent of all associates agree they have friends at work
In the 2022 survey from Great Place to Work, Pinnacle’s results showed big advantages in issues related to equality and inclusion, which are key values that an increasing number of younger workers look for in their employers. Associates’ positive responses to all questions related to these specific focus areas were well above benchmarks:
- Impartiality: 91% (GPTW benchmark: 79%)
- Equity: 94% (GPTW benchmark: 81%)
- Respect: 95% (GPTW benchmark: 86%)
- Fairness: 95% (GPTW benchmark: 85%)
- Caring: 96% (GPTW benchmark: 88%)
- Integrity: 97% (GPTW benchmark: 87%)
- Justice: 97% (GPTW benchmark: 91%)
- Leadership Behavior: 97% (GPTW benchmark: 88%)
“With the largest share of the workforce today, the workplace experience of millennials says a lot about your organization,” says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “These workers are looking for authentic leadership, meaningful work, and a healthy work environment — and they show loyalty to those who can deliver.”
“We mean to continue attracting the very best financial professionals to help us build our firm in the highest performing markets in the Southeast,” Turner said. “We were designed from the very beginning to be a place where they want to work, where talented individuals of all types can find the freedom and culture that lets them be their best selves. That puts us in an ideal position to sustain our hiring and growth model into the future, ready to flourish as next generation of business leaders grows into power.”
