Personal and Professional Growth with a Total Relationship

Mountain View Auto Group, Chattanooga, TN

“We want to keep growing. That’s one of my overriding reasons for getting out of bed every day is the opportunity to continue to grow this business. And one of the nice things about thinking forward toward that is knowing that I have this business partner, this banking partner that wants to be part of that growth with me and be a part of our family.” –Randall Herbert, COO Mountain View Auto Group

Mountain View Auto Group is usually on the move. It started in the 1980s with the Watson family in Chattanooga and has been through several acquisitions and growth phases that have built dealerships across the city.

“As you continue to grow, the new facility requirements for that growth, it was important to have somebody that was willing to embrace a vision that was evolving,” said COO Randall Herbert.

It takes the right partners to make that happen, with the right experts and their tools to manage operations, accounting, legal and financing. For the latter, Mountain View has a longstanding relationship with Kenny Dyer and his team at Pinnacle, including Financial Advisor Chris Rutledge.

“We have a lot of conversations about acquisitions and growth in the company,” Rutledge said. “They’re always looking for new opportunities. They’re very acquisitive.”

With a geographic model that allows for local leadership and decision making, Rutledge is able to bring an entire team of experts together for the most important conversations in meeting Mountain View’s goals.

“We have a large team that supports Mountain View Auto Group, not just me, but we have a credit team, a credit advisor, two credit officers involved in this relationship. We have treasury management. Everybody’s very familiar with the company. It makes it a lot easier to move forward and make decisions when you have those kind of relationships.”

That approach has helped contribute to terrific results for the company, its leaders and employees.

“It’s a big part of why we continue to work with Pinnacle Bank is the people that we’ve come to know there. They’ve gotten to know us. Many of the Watson family members and our associates have relationships with Pinnacle Bank. I myself have a personal relationship with Pinnacle Bank. They also are our partner for our health savings accounts, so they have a really broad range of offerings and ability to provide businesses with solutions.
