Pinnacle Financial Partners Named Bank of the Year by Captive International

Michael Corbett named Best Banker in Captive International’s U.S. Awards

October 23, 2024

Pinnacle Financial Partners and captive insurance advisor Michael Corbett are both winners in the 2024 Captive International U.S. Awards. The firm was named Bank of the Year and Corbett was named Banker of the Year respectively. This is the first appearance for the firm and the second time Corbett received this recognition, first earning the accolade in 2022.

“I’m elated to receive this prestigious award for the second time, said Corbett. “It is incredibly humbling to be recognized for the work I am passionate about, and this achievement reinforces my commitment to excellence and work in captives. This award is not just a reflection of my efforts, but also of the incredible support and collaboration I’ve received from my team and Pinnacle as a firm.”

The Captive International awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and commitment among the top service providers in the U.S. captive insurance industry. Pinnacle and Corbett have emerged as major players in the captive insurance market. Since the start of this effort in 2020, captive deposits have exceeded $1 billion and continue to grow with supporting captives in the reinsurance area as a key objective.

“This is a reflection of the collective efforts of our team at the firm,” said Sam Belk, senior lending officer at Pinnacle. “Michael and his team of Tom Blanchard and David Shamblin have built this practice from scratch, and our associates have partnered to build relationships with clients who can benefit from captive services. When the team is aligned with a clear mission, there is no limit to what we can achieve together.”

The Captive International awards are based on responses to a comprehensive online questionnaire, as well as phone interviews with select contacts. Respondents were asked to name up to three firms or individuals with whom they’ve worked, based on their competence, expertise and innovation. Domiciles, firms and individuals were ranked on a scale with respondents providing the reasoning behind their votes.

Captive International is owned by Newton Media in the United Kingdom, drawing together content from its publications Bermuda CaptiveCayman CaptiveEMEA Captive and US Captive as well as news, analysis and features created through ongoing coverage of the global captive insurance market and bespoke special reports.
